The Stupidest Dead On Arrival Publicity Stunt

Apparently someone thought it seemed like a good idea and a clever way to promote tourism in South Australia.   Said idea was sending live goldfish in glass bowls with the tag line “Be the big fish in a small pond and come test the water.”

The key word in the prior sentence is “live.”  See, the folks at the PR agency Advantage Adelaide didn’t realize that a lot of the fish would die en route to their recipients.  Needless to say, the publicity stunt flopped.  Or should we simply say it it went belly up?
